DHRA Minutes. September 2026

The committee has been actively monitoring traffic conditions on Downshire Hill and welcomes the positive impact of recent resurfacing, road markings, and signage improvements in the area. A comprehensive traffic survey report is in draft form and will soon be submitted to Camden, along with commentary highlighting how traffic flow from surrounding areas affects our neighbourhood. Speeding remains a concern, though there are signs of slight improvement, and the committee will continue to keep a close eye on the situation.

On the security front, recent crime figures for the area show a welcome overall decrease, with police numbers now increased to three officers allocated locally. Residents are encouraged to report any anti-social behaviour via the Camden Council website and to call 101 for car or mobile phone theft. The committee continues to work with local policing teams to keep our neighbourhood safe and welcomes the improved police presence.

Several planning matters are progressing across the area, including the conversion of the former police station to flats and commercial space, and ongoing monitoring of the Regis Road redevelopment. A proposed safety railing scheme for one of our historic buildings is being refined following feedback from neighbours, and the committee is also looking into concerns about tree loss at a local property. Elsewhere, discussions continue with St John's Church regarding a planting scheme, with hopes for progress in the coming months. On a practical note, refuse collection at the top of the street has dipped recently due to increased footfall, but this is being actively monitored and addressed.
