DHRA Minutes. November 2023

The committee has been actively engaging with Camden on traffic improvements for the area. Alongside ongoing coordination with neighbouring residents' associations, consultants have been appointed to carry out broader traffic studies across the borough. The DHRA's own traffic consultation results have been forwarded to Camden, and the committee continues to advocate for local improvements such as speed limit signage, ramp repairs, and street markings within the council's current budget cycle. Further monitoring of traffic patterns is planned, with additional studies hoped to provide a clearer picture of street usage during peak times.

The refuse situation remains a focus of attention, particularly concerning arrangements for commercial and residential waste on the street. Following discussions with Camden's waste team, a solution involving time-banded collections has been provisionally agreed, though this requires ongoing coordination with all parties involved. The committee recognises that similar challenges are being experienced across many local neighbourhoods and welcomes the council's emphasis on improving behaviour and responsibility. Residents are encouraged to report littering offences, and the association continues to work towards more reliable waste collection arrangements.

Planning matters continue to progress on two fronts. Public consultations regarding the police station development remain ongoing, with design elements having been refined in response to feedback. The DHRA will continue to support residents' concerns, particularly regarding potential noise and light impacts on neighbouring properties. Meanwhile, a proposed extension to another building on the street has undergone several amendments, including a reduction in massing. The committee will remain involved in discussions with neighbours and the developer as the final submission is prepared. Looking ahead, the association is keen to welcome new residents to the community and encourage membership, whilst also planning to reinstate the annual garden party in 2024, timed to coincide with the AGM.
